The purpose of the visit of the Consul for Politics and Economics, Heidi Evans and her assistant Mikhail Brodsky was to meet with representatives of the city administration of Perm, at which the parties discussed the socio-economic potential of Perm and the further development of twinning relations with Louisville. The meeting was led by the head of the administration staff of Perm Elena Anisimova.
Elena Anisimova told how, thanks to the exchange of experience with the American twin, projects in the cultural and economic spheres were implemented in Perm. For example, since 2006 open receptions of the head of the city have been held, this option of communication with the townspeople was adopted from Louisville City Hall. When creating the city call-center, technologies and principles of the Louisville Citizens Telephone Call Center were also used. In addition, during the construction of the Perm Extreme Park in 2009, the experience of creating and operating the Louisville Extreme Park was taken into account.
Heidi Evans welcomed participants to the meeting on behalf of the new US Consul General in Yekaterinburg, Emmy Storrow. Ms. Evans shared: “It’s nice to see a city with a developed industry and economy. You said that the city is doing a lot of work to prepare for the 300th anniversary of Perm. I believe that investing in urban infrastructure is a difficult task, but at the same time necessary. This is an attraction of investments, as well as improving the quality of life of citizens. The US Consulate General in Yekaterinburg, in turn, is ready to support projects in the field of culture and other areas. ”
Elena Anisimova on behalf of the head of Perm Dmitry Samoilov invited the guests to take part in the festivities on May 9 next year, when the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be celebrated.
